Veronica ‘Waterperry Blue’

Common name: Veronica ‘Waterperry Blue’

* Botanical name: Veronica peduncularis ‘Waterperry Blue’

* What it is: A low, creeping perennial flower with small, rounded leaves and small soft blue flowers April through early May. Sometimes reblooms lightly late summer into fall.

* Size: 4-6 inches tall, space 2-3 feet apart.

* Where to use: Nice edging plant along walks, driveways or any front-of-bed situation. Also makes colorful groundcover in light shade under trees and shrubs. Full sun to part shade.

* Care: Keep damp the first season, then water usually not needed. Fertilizer usually not needed. No need to deadhead or divide, unless plants spread beyond where you want. Then just sever and dig excess pieces and transplant or give away. Rake off any browned-out leaves at winter’s end before new growth begins.

* Great partner: In front of pink shrub roses or interplanted with pink tulips.
