About My Web Site
The main idea of this site is to provide timely, helpful, unbiased, local and accurate information that gardeners in Pennsylvania will find useful. I love plants and gardening and want to share what I’ve learned to help others be successful in their own gardens.
When I mention a product or a place here, it’s because I believe in it. I accept rare/occasional advertising, but those are clearly obvious as ads, they’re limited to garden-related ads, and they involve only companies that I know and trust. No one can buy a kind mention here, and I don’t “sell” recommendations in response to an offer to advertise. I’m a journalist by training and heart and try to remain as independent and unbiased as possible.
I fund this site myself, and it’s not affiliated with any other company or entity, including Pa. Media Group, the publisher of The Patriot-News and PennLive.com, for which I write as a contracted columnist. I do link back and forth to writings there and here, but I don’t get paid for those links or for any product-related mentions in either place. I also don’t receive any income for any links in my writings that take you from here to there. Again, I include links only because I trust the sources and believe they might be helpful to you.
Other than the few ads you might see from time to time here, the only income I receive through this site are from sales of my books and the free-will donations of kind and thoughtful readers (most of whom are listed on my George’s Friends page).
I don’t do random Google ads, for example, or any income-generators that toss up ads that are out of my control based on what you might have been searching for. (I don’t like that whole idea.)
I don’t collect or disseminate any personal information. If you sign up for my free monthly email roundup, I need your email solely to get you the emails. I never sell or trade any addresses. And if you buy any of my info materials, your payment information goes directly and securely to PayPal.
