Lamium ‘Pink Chablis’
* Common name: Lamium ‘Pink Chablis’
* Botanical name: Lamium maculatum ‘Pink Chablis’
* What it is: A low, spreading, drought-tough, deer-resistant perennial groundcover with silver/green variegated leaves and small light-pink flowers that keep coming summer through fall. Holds foliage through most winters.
* Size: 8 to 10 inches tall, 2-foot or more spread
* Where to use: Excellent for massing in and around shrubs. Less work and better looking than mulch! Also nice under trees and in any shady to partly shady spot where you want something low other than grass.
* Care: Trim off browned-out foliage at end of winter. Once established, water and fertilizer usually not needed. Shovel out if it spreads where you don’t want it. Not nearly as aggressive as its cousin – the yellow-blooming lamiastrum.
* Great partner: Plant at feet of Hinoki cypress, holly, boxwood or any foundation evergreen.
