Coralbells ‘Gypsy Dancer’
* Common name: Coralbells ‘Gypsy Dancer’
* Botanical name: Heuchera ‘Gypsy Dancer’
* What it is: A durable perennial flower grown mainly for its wide, silvery-burgundy leaves. Unlike many coralbells, this one is an excellent bloomer that gets lots of long-lasting, dainty, bell-shaped, light-pink flowers at the tops of 10-inch wiry stems. Blooms through most of June and July.
* Size: Plants are about a foot tall with a 2-foot spread. Flower spikes rise another 10 inches above foliage.
* Where to use: Any part-shade spot, such as eastern foundations or in the dappled light under and around trees and tall shrubs. A nice foliage accent in pots.
* Care: Snip off ratty leaves at winter’s end and then snip off flower stalks when blooms are done. No spraying or dividing needed. An annual spring scattering of Plant-tone or other balanced organic fertilizer helps. Very drought tolerant and trouble-free.
* Great partner: Japanese painted ferns and/or liriope.
