Foamybells ‘Stoplight’
* Common name: Foamybells ‘Stoplight’
* Botanical name: Heucherella ‘Stoplight’
* What it is: A perennial flower grown mainly for its dazzling, hand-sized leaves of neon gold that have cross-shaped red markings in the center. Sends up a few dainty flower spikes of white in mid to late spring, but who cares with leaves like this?
* Size: Clumps are 6 to 8 inches tall with an 18-inch spread
* Where to use: Use a band of three or more along the front of any shady to partly shaded garden. Also excellent in a container.
* Care: Water in dry weather. Cut or rake off browned-out leaves at end of winter and that’s it. Don’t cut to ground. A scattering of Flower-Tone each spring is optional.
* Great partner: At the feet of a dwarf, shade-tolerant evergreen such as boxwood, Hinoki cypress, Oregon grape holly, yew or Japanese plum yew.
