Petunia Supertunia
* Common name: Petunia Supertunia(R)
* Botanical name: Petunia x hybrida
* What it is: A family of heavy-flowering, long-blooming annuals that come in more than two dozen shades – hot pink, light pink, rose, white, blue, purple, citrus and more. Spreading habit and no need to deadhead.
* Size: 6 inches tall, 18- to 24-inch spread.
* Where to use: Line along front foundation, tuck one here and there for spots of color in any sunny garden or mass along a sunny border. Particularly nice in pots and hanging baskets.
* Care: Plant in compost-rich, well-drained soil and keep watered early on. Fertilize monthly with a flower fertilizer or add time-release pellets (i.e. Osmocote) at planting. In pots and baskets, check for water daily and fertilize half-strength every other watering. Snip back any too-long shoots any time. Yank after frost kills them.
* Great partner: Trailing silvery dichondra ‘Silver Falls’ in a basket. Needs no help massed in a bed.
