Coleus ‘Kong Rose’
* Common name: Coleus ‘Kong Rose’
* Botanical name: Solenostemon ‘Kong Rose’
* What it is: An annual prized for its unusually wide leaves of gold and rich burgundy. Plant May through early summer. There are lots of great new coleus, but this is one of my favorites.
* Size: 12 to 15 inches tall and wide
* Where to use: Superb container plant, ideally in shade or part shade. Showy enough to stand alone in a pot. Also can be planted in the ground along a north or east foundation or in any shade garden.
* Care: In a pot, keep soil damp and fertilize every week or so with a balanced container fertilizer. Pinch off flowers… the leaves are the stars. Can be moved inside in fall.
* Great partner: Needs none but can be paired in a pot with red begonias or impatiens and/or a green or gold trailing vine such as ‘Marguerite’ sweet potato vine, golden oregano or an ivy.
