Begonia ‘Bonfire’
* Common name: Begonia ‘Bonfire’
* Botanical name: Begonia boliviensis ‘Bonfire’
* What it is: A bright, heavy-blooming, eye-grabbing annual flower with hanging, bell-shaped, red-orange flowers and fleshy leaves with red serrated edges.
* Size: By season’s end, about 2 feet tall and wide.
* Where to use: Spectacular in a hanging basket or a large container. Can also be planted in the ground. Full sun or part shade.
* Care: In a pot, keep soil damp and fertilize every week or so with a balanced container fertilizer, although this is more drought-tolerant and self-reliant than most annuals. Snip to neaten, if necessary.
* Great partner: Needs none, but any green or gold vine as a trailer would be fine, such as ivy, vinca, ‘Marguerite’ sweet potato vine or ‘Old Gold’ plectranthus.
