Boxwood ‘Dee Runk’
* Common name: Boxwood ‘Dee Runk’
* Botanical name: Buxus sempervirens ‘Dee Runk’
* What it is: A broad-leafed evergreen with a very narrow, upright, pyramidal habit. Has oval, dark-green leaves about the size of a pinky fingernail.
* Size: 10-12 feet but only 2-3 feet around.
* Where to use: Perfect in those tight beds between the front of the house and front walk – especially flanking the front door. Also excellent choice in any tight area where an evergreen is needed. Does containers, too. Full sun to part shade.
* Care: Virtually none after watering regularly to establish roots in the first season. A scattering of Plant-tone or similar organic granular fertilizer is helpful each spring but not absolutely necessary. A light annual shearing or two (end of winter and early summer) is optional if you like a neat look.
* Great partner: Bright, compact annuals such as marigolds, dwarf celosia or begonias. Gold-leafed coralbells or foamybells are good perennial friends.
