A George Gift Basket

October 18th, 2011

You like free stuff, right? Here’s a chance to win a whole basket full of gardening goodies, simply by persuading a pal or two that they’re crazy for not signing up as a subscriber here. The details…

George's basket of gardening goodies.

First, arm-twist a friend into signing up. Then have your friend email me at george@georgeweigel.net to be added to the list. Tell him/her to mention your name.

I’ll add both you and your friend to the entry box from which my lovely wife, Sue, will draw one name at random on or around Thanksgiving Day (since I’m thankful for all of you swell readers). Entice more than one friend, and you’ll be entered each time.

I’ll deliver the gift basket in person – assuming you’re in the Harrisburg area. Otherwise, I’ll mail it along with a nice card.

Subscribing is free and signs you up for an email from me every 2 weeks letting you know what I’ve posted new on my web site and what timely tidbits you ought to know about.

I don’t sell, trade or otherwise distribute addresses, and anyone can unsubscribe at any time by hitting a link in the emails.

By all means, have your friends snoop around the web site before they make up their minds. Everyone’s welcome to read as often as they like without ever subscribing.

If you’re reading this but aren’t on the subscriber list, now’s a good time to sign up. Just hit the “Sign Up for George’s Free E-Column” button at left, and I’ll enter you automatically even if you don’t drag along any friends.

Now the important info… what’s in the basket?

Here’s the list, which works out to a total retail value of about $180:

* My three garden booklets (list of best plants for central Pa., “Yard-Care Survival Manual” and month-by-month yard-maintenance manual).

* Judy Lowe’s new book, “Herbs!”

* A 5-pound jug of Preen Garden Weed Preventer.

* A quart bottle of St. Gabriel Organics’ new mint-oil-based Stink Bug Killer (the stink bugs smell minty-fresh as they drop).

* A quart bottle of Messina Wildlife’s Deer Stopper.

* A 12-pack of CowPots (made out of, yes, dried cow manure… but you’d never know it.)

* Two pre-seeded Ferry-Morse garden mats, four packs of herb and vegetable seeds from Ferry-Morse and The Cook’s Garden and a pack of sensitive-plant seeds from Tickle Me Plant Seeds.

* A garden journal called “The Meditative Gardener Notebook,” by Cheryl Wilfong.

* A pair of Fiskars garden shears.

* A Vigoro-brand trowel.

* A Garden Collections foam kneeling pad for your aching knees.

* And a 4-pound bag of Spot Gone, an organic granular product that heads off Spot-caused spots in the lawn.

Good luck.

This would be great because husband think he is the family “Garden expert”
Which he is not. I have to get spme basic tools and some basic knowledge or I will have to endur another season of gardening with him. Please wish me luck!!
I need all the help a can get. Stay warm and the flowers will be popping their heads though the mulch.
    Sooner than you think!!!
    Good day to all,
    Jeanie
